Why does JC Wings have to use the crappy orange box?

They chose the wrong paper type for the packaging to hold diecast models. It's soft as tissue. In fact, a cardboard tissue box from Kleenex is even stronger than what they use.

The model planes are heavy, in particularly in 1:200 you know how heavy an A380 is. And yes they used the orange box on some of the 380s.

With the crappy box on a heavier model it crumples easy and makes some ugly creases here and there.

Also they just slap couple pieces of stickers on the box. Are they really out of budget to print a standard paper condom like many other releases?

The paper condom that they been using is not good either but at least better than the orange boxes.

Yeah, like abdul said, the orange boxes are used for copyright issues if the model manufacturer didn't get legal rights to print an airlines livery on one of their models. This same box strategy can be seen with Gemini (subsidiary Blackbox and Whitebox for copyright issues), Aeroclassics (subsidiary Bluebox and Greenbox for copyright issues), and Panda (subsidiary C Models for copyright issues).

Yes, but even with copyright issues they don't necessary have to use this type of bad paper to make up the box. It's too soft and flimsy and doesn't hold a heavy model well. It's the paper type or quality and has nothing to do with copyrights. In fact, it'd be better if they just used the standard paper condom (or sleeve) on the 1:200 or just a standard box on the 1:400 in completely blank white (if they want to avoid the copyright issues) and slap a sticker on it just like what they're doing now on the orange box. The paper weight on the 1:400 standard box and 1:200 condom with the white box are more suitable to hold a heavy model
