Seattle Trip!

Hey everyone, I recently took a trip up to Tacoma for a conference, and I had some time to take the 30 minute drive up to SEATAC for 2 afternoons and got some morning shooting done before I left. The two evenings I was there it was a south flow, and the day I left was north. Here are some of the shots

Day 1 was August 6th that was highlighted by a lot of equipment that I haven’t seen being based in ATL. The Delta A220-100 I have seen, but it’s been in Atlanta for either maintenance or a diversion. There were “only” 3 specials the 175/738 HTWS and the Horizon Retro which were cool. The day was highlighted by two 787s one of which was leaving to LAX after bringing in the Las Vegas Raiders for a preseason game. The other was the stunning Air Tahiti 789 which was a bucket list airline.

Wonderful pics you got there, thanks for sharing! Any 747s?

The 2nd day of spotting (August 7th) was highlighted by the special Alaska 737s. It started with Star Wars and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with the Pixar Pier and finally N309AS rounding out the lineup. To me knowledge me and my friend Gabe were the last ones to shoot this thing (his shot should be on JetPhotos here shortly to compliment mine) in regular service. The other cool stuff for the day was my first Icelandair 321neo which I was sad because the 757/767 was dominant in SEA for years. The 2nd cool thing was this Hawaiian 321neo with a weird pink panel just below the door, would any of you guys know why? Finally my last shot of the day was an early rotating Air Canada Q400 off to YVR.

Wonderful light and beautiful clouds at the background! The Alaska specials are very cool aswell.
Sad to see the Icelandair A321 instead of the 757/767. Such a boring replacement, and teamed up with that lousy new livery :(

We were lucky Seattle played nice for our trip, I myself probably got around 100 total shots throughout the three days, and a little under half already are out either on PS or JP. The whole trip we saw some of the craziest light I’ve seen while shooting. The clouds and mountains also provided some amazing contrast and it made it so easy for me that I didn’t even need to edit my photos that much. This day specific the mainline Alaska stole the show while the first day had almost every special livery on the 175s.

Did you make it to the shop?

Unfortunately no, I was wanting to go the last day before my flight, but it would’ve been tight to make it to the airport, so I couldn’t go. I had my eye on a few things on the shop, so I just ordered them online when I got home. Frankly, I don’t know if I would’ve had enough space in my bags to carry some boxes all the way back home.
