Same registration, different livery - would you collect both?

I am just curious, what is your opinion on having few models of the same aircraft with different liveries. Like it was a model with standard livery released, but after that the same plane got an anniversary sticker and another model with sticker is released. Would you accept having the same registration twice in your collection with different appearance?

Good question! I prefer not to have the same regs, but make an exeption for my Qantas 1/200 models. Have VH-OQF in the old and new livery, VH-OEF with the Wunala colours but also with the Supporting the Socceroos colours.

In scale 1/400 I have the 3 A330's from Hawaiian ( NG, Gemini and Phoenix ). Would they have been the same reg I wouldn't bought 3 of them. I will make an exeption for the Hawaiian A321NEO. Have the N208HA in normal colours and when JC is planning to finally release the Moana colours, it will have the same reg. So it depent on how important the aircraft and livery is.

I do buy models of the same registration with different liveries even if I try to avoid it as much as I can. But most of the models I buy have different registrations anyway so having the same registration with a different livery is rare.

The only time I’d ever have a duplicate registration in my collection is if:
A) I find a tail number I flew wearing a previous livery — one example is the America West A319 Gemini did, so if NG were to copy the same reg I’d still get it
B) Same as above but with a newer livery or sticker, if I fly it with said livery/sticker

I only have it once, and I was quite disappointed that it happened. The Korean 78X I had in the old livery was the first to be repainted to the new colors, and now I have both versions.

I would, but it depends on the display. I find that it's a way to preserve the history of the airplane. So if that's the intention I would even display them together. But if if it isn't, then I still would collect them, but not display them together. Honestly I haven't, given it much thought. So I haven't checked for duplicate regs in my collection. I do know of a few that have had different regs but are the same aircraft.

I don't have a picture of both but for example, the 1:200 Aviateca 727-100 and 1:200 ALM 727-100 are the same aircraft different regs.

ALM is a resin cast custom and Aviateca (not my picture or actual model) is the one released by El Aviador models.

PJ-BOA as ALM and later TG-AYA as Aviateca. I might make OB-R-1135 as Faucett some time before ALM.

I would, if they're unique, or it's a subject matter I'm obsessed about.
Example - I have the CZ B-308T, which now wears the gorgeous Greater Bay scheme. So obviously, I won't have a choice but to get it.

Also, as @Jazajia mentioned, I may be neurotic if it comes to certain reg-airline-aircraft combos and may have multiples.

2 examples of same airline, different schemes. America West 757-225 N907AW in the original scheme.
America West 757-200 1983 N907AW L.jpg
America West 757-200 1983 N907AW R.jpg
And in the Phoenix Suns special scheme. Both models by Gemini Jets.
America West 757-200 1996 N907AW Suns L.jpg
America West 757-200 1996 N907AW Suns R.jpg
And finally, Southwest 737-7H4 N280WN in the Penguin One special scheme.
Southwest 737-7H4WL N280WN Penguin L.jpg
Southwest 737-7H4WL N280WN Penguin R.jpg
And also in the Missouri One special scheme. Penguin One by Aeroclassics, Missouri One by NG.
