Model Review - Etihad Airbus A340-600 by HX Models

This week's review makes it two weeks in a row that I have been pleasantly surprised by a model. HX Models has released 18 variants of this Etihad A340-600 and I wasn't in a hurry to get one, however in detail the mould is far superior to my original expectations:

HX Models have been making a splash in 400 scale in 2025 mainly with their 747s, but they also have plans to become a major established brand in the scale and so have plenty of other moulds in the pipeline. One of the other moulds they have ready is the A

It's a good attempt, but there are still a few issues with the mould that have to be addressed, as your review touched upon:

• The nose is too blunt (especially looking from the top; JC / Panda / GJ / Phoenix / AC are more accurate in this respect).
• Nosegear height is a bit too short.
• Nosegear wheel is too large.
• The cockpit window printing is canted upward (noticeable from the side).

That being said, this new HX mould is far superior to the Phoenix rendition because the wing sweep angle is accurate (the Phoenix A340-5/600 wings are swept too far back and are slightly too narrow) and the cockpit area is shaped accurately (the Phoenix is too wide, which is very noticeable from the top). If HX can sharpen the nose, they would have a top-notch rendition of the A340-600.

I was thinking that before too but upon review the mould is better than any of the other A340s by some distance so I wouldn't necessarily fixate on the issues it has (of which the cockpit print is probably the most annoying). For example the nosegear is more accurate than the Phoenix.

yes the FD definitely gets me excited - hopefully they can fix the nose shape, nlg, and cockpit printing soon!

I hope so too but the nose and nlg are no worse than others - it's just the inaccuracies are different

just like the China Eastern Expo A346 (which has abnormally large cockpit), lots of complains initially but then you see these stores each with 500+ sold on taobao and it's out of stock within months I've got my hands on two of these they are excellent,not anyworse than the Phoenix version IMO (Phoenix's red is a little pink-ish)

I’d imagine the very affordable price is a big reason their sales are very good, especially for the quality of the models.
