I'm about to head off on holiday, but there's still time for this week's review, which gives me the opportunity to take a second look at the AV400 A330neo. The original version didn't do well but this updated mould looks a lot better and on top of that AV400 have been showing a great willingness to find more exotic subject matter. In a world of such hyper-consolidation of major airlines Air Senegal is a breath of fresh air:

The Senegal A330neo is something I've been looking forward to in 1:400 - ever since it was first introduced few years ago. Even though sparse and 'Eurowhite'-ey - the vibrant colours on the engine and tail really 'fill' the aircraft visually.

Unfortunately, I'm really disappointed by the Av400 A330-900 - considering how they nailed a complex aircraft like the A380, I'm bewildered at their inability to get the A330/340 family right. Why I refrained from picking up any previously - other than 3 of the the MRTTs of course, where the additional gizmos obscure the mould issues

At a glance this A330neo mould seems better than the initial offerings, however when I look closely, there's too much still to be made right. Besides of course, Av400 printwork nowadays is strangely not as fine as it used to be.
That'll make it worthy for a close competitor to NG's , or even the JC/GJ one for that matter.

I hope this subject gets picked up sometime in the future. It's a beautiful yet simple and striking livery, on a beautiful A330 update - and Air Senegal was an early operator of the type as well - so it deserves to be picked up by say an NG

Did they fix the nose section? Seems OK to me on this Senegal release. What are the other problems?

Nah - the nose is too rounded - check photos of the real thing - the distinctive 'beak' profile is missing - right now something more 777-ey than A330-ey
Definitely better now than the initial abomination, but yet more to be done
