For years, I have been interested in Japanese aviation. From the unique airlines to the busy airports and large aircraft operating regional routes, Japan is one of the most interesting aviation scenes the world has to offer. Plenty of airlines operate old, practically ancient aircraft. But one airline that does not operate these old jets is Fuji Dream Airlines, a small regional carrier with a much more unique identity than other Japanese airlines.

Airline History
Established on June 24th, 2008, Fuji Dream Airlines is a fairly small and modest Japanese regional carrier based out of Shizuoka, Japan, right in the shadow of the airline’s namesake, Mount Fuji. The airline commenced services on July 23rd, 2009, operating flights to Komatsu, Kagoshima, and Kumamoto from its base in Shizuoka with a fleet of two Embraer 170 aircraft. Fuji Dream Airlines was a much more different brand than other Japanese airlines at the time. All of the aircraft were colorful, each having a different livery.
Around this time, FDA put an order in for the Embraer 175, a well needed capacity increase. As the fleet grew, the airline expanded services across Japan, gaining operating bases at Nagoya-Komaki, Kobe, and Fukuoka.

Throughout the 2010’s, FDA would continue growing the E175 fleet, eventually acquiring 13 Airframes. The third E170 operated by FDA was retired in 2024, putting the total current fleet size at 15 aircraft.

The Models
In 400 scale, seven Embraer aircraft have been made, all by JC Wings.
The first model of FDA (in 400 scale) was made in a 2018 release set of JC Wings, this model was the FDA White livery E175, with a registration of JA12FJ.
Since then, six more models have been released.
FDA E175- Blue Livery- JA13FJ
FDA E170- Red Livery- JA01FJ (First FDA Airframe)
FDA E175- Silver Livery- JA10FJ
FDA E170- Light Blue Livery- JA02FJ
FDA E170- Green Livery- JA04FJ (It’s labeled as a “Fantasy Livery” on MADb, this is incorrect, the green livery E170 was very much real, and was the previously mentioned E170 retired in 2024.)
FDA E175- Gold Livery- JA09FJ

More models were made in 200 scale, three of which were made in 2013, technically making them the first FDA models.
I really hope the purple “Evangelion” Special livery gets made at some point, it’s one of my favorite liveries from FDA, and is on the unmade purple livery.
