How many models have you purchased in 2025?

Time to expose our purchasing habits a bit! By now, most of us will have purchased our last models of the year. How many models have you purchased? I don’t want any bragging replies or the like, I just want fun facts! Let’s get weird with it and show off something odd about your choices of models for this year. Any big standouts, odd choices, rare, many multiple copies, etc that makes your collection unique for the year? Maybe you bought 15 United CRJ700s for a specific reason, or you collect mainly one continent of airlines but grabbed a certain model that you’ve actually flown on. Many fun reasons to collect what we collect.

Here are some statistics I gathered for my 2025!

Total Models Purchased: 103

Total US Airways purchases (USAir/Airways/MetroJet): 47

Purchases by aircraft type:
A330 (200/300) - 13
757 (200/300) - 14
A319 - 11
A321 - 7
A320 - 6

Purchases by airline:
US Airways - 35
American Airlines - 16
America West - 11
USAir - 8
Delta - 4

Purchases by brand:
AeroClassics - 13
GeminiJets - 57
NG - 14

Rarest Model:
MetroJet 737-200 Sample (6 made)

Cheapest model:
NG American Airlines A330-200. It was provided free on accident in an Ebay mix up! It was very exciting as I needed this model anyways.

Most common retailer:
Ebay (played “catch up” a lot this year)

Let hear yours!

Boeing 747-200F Alitalia Cargo - Dragon Wings

Boeing 707-300C TAROM - Aviation400
Boeing 737-500 Nordeste - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Fokker 50 Nordeste - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Ilyushin IL-76 Russian Air Force - WittyWings
Boeing 727-200 all white - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Boeing 727-100 Transbrasil - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Embraer EMB-120 Litoranea - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Boeing 737-400 Transbrasil (Futura hybrid) - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Boeing 737-400 Transbrasil (1998 colors) - 3D Printed (Jonas)
Boeing 737-300 VASP - 3D Printed (Jonas)
McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 Monarch - Gemini Jets

13 models... and clearly 3D printing for the win.
Two things can explain this: first of all, Jonas is doing an incredible work with 3D printed models, and he lives in my city, so I can easily go to his place and pick up the models. Second: the stupid, unfair and tyrannic tariffs imposed by the Brazilian government on international purchases. Each model is costing the double... in the end, when buying a single model, I pay for two models. One for me, one for the government 🤑

all your 3D printed models look fantastic. A worthwhile endeavor for you Leo! it’s a shame it’s gotten so expensive.

In 2025 (to date), I bought 82 models, surpassing my total from 2024. Here’s the brand breakdown:

Some unique abbreviations:
TD = Tarmac Designs
TM = Tomica

- 36 GJ
- 15 AC
- 13 NG
- 4 PH
- 3 AV400
- 2 JC
- 2 TD
- 2 SMA
- 1 3DD
- 1 DW
- 1 PM
- 1 HX
- 1 TM

My takeaways
- Like last year, GJ was my biggest brand to be added. However, I’ve noted its reduced market share in my collection, now down to 60% when it has historically been about 2/3 the last couple years.
- With my East Asia fleet building up, I’ve been able to acquire more models from more brands: I wouldn’t’ve gotten HX, AV400, or PH this year if it wasn’t for this project.
- The new brands this year were 3D Design Deck, who produced a NetJets Challenger in late 2024 and got me into them; Tarmac Designs, who produced a pair of lovely 3D printed FedEx Feeder Cessna freighters; and HX Models, who made the Korean 737-900 in the new livery.
- The Tomica model was an F-35 fighter jet my friend got me from a Tomica shop in Japan.

Overall, I loved seeing my collection grow even more in 2025 and I can’t wait for the next batch of models heading into 2026.

AV400 KAL A388 (HL7619) x2
Phoenix KAL A333 (HL7701)
NG KAL 748 (HL7636/42/44) x8

*NG Singapore A359 (9V-SHE) - pending

… for 22 in total, of which ~70% are 747s.

A depressing year overall. I just can’t get over the light blue on HX’s Singapores. Despite spoonfeeding brands helpful reference pics and diagrams, somehow the number of decent KAL models in my collection is still ZERO. If NG messes up the 333, I’m done.

14 total; 7/14 A330s, reduction from 10/14 last year. Will probably be slowing down and focusing more on VH- regionals now, at most I'll be picking up the other mainline Chinese A330s. The recent slew of MD-80s is tempting to expand my criteria but i havent the space or money to afford all that.

Looking to get into 3D printed customs of regional jets (BAe 146, Fokker 100, E190, SAAB, Pilatus, Dash-8) since releases are few and far between, and ridiculously expensive to boot.

I got into aircraft models earlier this year. I’ve collected 23 1:400 models so far, and I still have a few more waiting to be delivered.

I just realized that I don’t have any Phoenix models in my collection yet. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to pick up some good moulds, such as the A330, IL-62, or IL-96.
