ANA FESTA Shop - Haneda Airport

I was in Tokyo recently for a vacation and decided to visit one of the ANA stores in HND. Although there are numerous ANA FESTA stores across Japan, the HND Terminal 2 shop had a wide selection of airplane models, apparel, bags, accessories, and stationary.

The ANA Precision Models selection was decent, but not extraordinary. The only 1:400 scale models I saw in the shop were an Air Japan 787-8 and an JASDF 777-300ER. I saw a handful of 1:200 A380s, 787-9s, and 787-10’s, both snap-fit and pre-assembled resin. Other scale models I saw were some 1:500 A380s and some Pac-Min models.

In the end, I ended getting some stickers, a keychain, some pens, a sweater, and a tote bag to keep all the stuff in. Overall I think this shop is a place worth visiting if you are flying out of Haneda, and has some really decent souvenirs for all ages.IMG_1020.jpegIMG_1021.jpegIMG_1022.jpegIMG_1023.jpegIMG_1024.jpegIMG_1025.jpeg

I recall their selection being a lot better. The time I visited, they were flying off the shelves, people were just buying non-stop. I get the feeling that Japan hasn't fully recovered since the COVID situation. Still not bad, I think every major airport should have a proper scale model shop, but it is too niche of a hobby.

I been to that Festa Shop several times. With the ANA Mileage Club accumulated mileage I would redeem with store vouchers, I then took the vouchers to this Haneda location to redeem mostly 1/200 or several 1/400 models. Many times there were hundreds of ¥ left (because the remaining balance on the vouchers could not be exchanged to cash) I would then use it to redeem a bottle of green tea and onigiri to go along. That level if I remember correctly has 2 Festa shops another one only sells food and souvenir items.

I have never flown through Haneda as a passenger (or operating crew), but went there several years ago to do plane spotting and visited the ANA Festa store. I brought back a 727-200 in the Mohican livery (yup, they had them for sale during my visit), and a 747-400D in the current livery in 1:400. Both are precious gems in my collection.

The 1:400 Herpa/Hogan seamless 722 mold. Extremely underutilized. One of the drawbacks of licensing, I suppose. The model is yellowing on the port side (the side more exposed to light).

If I remember correctly I started using the ANA mileage points during 2008-2011/12 and those were the years of the Festa Shop visits. One of the years happened to be the year of the China route 20th anniversary. During that time flying from either HKG or PVG to HND onboard the 763ER they would give out these special editon Panda route paper cups and peanuts. I thought of these while we are on this subject so I just took them out earlier for a look. Wonder what the bag of peanuts tastes like now (they expired in 2008).

Also bought a set of 1/1000 models with the 763ER Panda along Mohican during inflight but sold them many years ago

I remember the 1/1000 models well during my visit. Surprisingly accurate for what they were. I had a sealed pack of Pocky from the first ANA NRT-IAH flight (we were not on the flight, but someone we knew was - I did go to IAH to capture it - holy crap! I just realized that was 10 years ago to the day 🥹). The pack has been unsealed for a while now (see photo). My daughters ate them when they realized what it was. For reference, my wife was pregnant with our first daughter when that flight took place. IIRC, they didn't get indigestion 😅 (true story...). I still have some American Airlines mint from when they had the Vignelli livery, and they were not even close to retiring it...

I could die for a shop like this here in Rome. Compatibly with my job i would stay in the shop at opening time and i would exit at closing time (the owner should kick me out!). Absolutely amazing!

I was there a few months ago as well! Great store, definitely worth visiting if you're ever at HND. There's also a similar JAL Mall over at Terminal 1. Granted it's a domestic only terminal but it's got lots of good stuff like the ANA Festa if not even better.
