Aeroclassics Price Increases

I had heard that AK had said Aeroclassics prices would be going up with the latest batch, but it seems that the price rise has been applied across the board before the latest releases to include old stock too. Bear in mind this price rise is the price rise before the extra 34% tariffs were imposed so is merely a reaction to the previous 20% tariff.

As an example a 767-200 now costs $52.95 up from $48.95 (before discount code) - an 8% increase. So far Aeroclassics are I think the only ones to pass on that sort of price increase, but I expect they won't be the last. This has obviously been mandated from above as the increase has been applied at major retailers and Aeroclassics Direct.

sssshhhh don't say that username here.
It's like Voldemort... "he who must not be named". We have a peaceful forum, let's not ruin that by summoning that user 😂 😂 😂
He's not coming back!
Care to fill me in?
He's the owner of Aeroclassics. Online he's a horrible person who threatens, lies and calls people names. He's banned here.

Ughh and this is what you get with your more expensive Aeroclassics. More lazy models. Wavy wings, sloppy and pointless black engine rings, silver fans and a colour that doesn't even match the VARIG 727 from a few months back.

That's awful. I was quite tempted to buy this A300 but now I see AC still didn't fix this annoying issue. I'll have to stick to my custom Varig A300.
My VASP A300 have the same wavy wings.

It's a terrible shame. He's done so much for this hobby over the years. In 1/400th I have more Aeroclassics than anything else. His attitude is difficult to understand. For some reason he seems takes constructive criticism as a personal insult. Overall he produces wonderful, and in many cases, much sought after models. I'm especially appreciative of the Australian models he has produced over the years even when he knew some of them may not sell well. I wish he could take a deep breath and to use a trendy term I don't like, pivot. However Leopards don't change their spots.

The colour of the Varig A300 looks as bad as the one from the first round of Varig 747s back in the day. The DC-10 turned out much better as did the later 747s (at least colourwise). The factory workers just appear to use colours momentarily available at the factory. There is little colour matching and not even a catalogue of colours already used in the past.

Yeh and the 727-100 from January was fine.

Richard, I see the second run 747-200BM in the background. Did you correct the colour scheme under the front fuselage? I did and now like it very much. Although the first run was in general more precise the dark blue always spoilt for me.

No I have left it as is. I vaguely recall you did some changes to yours - can you remind me what they were?

It still sold very well, though. That's Aeroclassics' strength: the unique subjects they make. Based on their performance, I'd say most collectors are willing to take some QC issues and the less detailed models in exchange for exotic subjects.
Yeah this is true, BUT it just doesn't need to be like that. The issues are all so easily fixable. It's just super lazy and frustrating. I'm generally willing to accept a lot of the issues (and almost every model has at least one) but in the past few years there have been several models that have been so bad that I can't bring myself to have them in my collection. Several of the recent 747s fall into that category. Money wasted on not inexpensive models.

I'm learning not to be so quick to make these assertions. We don't really know all the variables behind the scenes. What we get is likely what the market supports.
Some of this stuff (engine pylon breaks in wing leading edge paint on 747s, black engine rims on A300s/DC-10s) is no more expensive to get right than wrong and has been repeated for years now even though it has been pointed out many times. The wavy wings on recent A300s/DC-9s, sometimes awful connection of seams on 727s etc is just bad workmanship that shouldn't get out the factory.

Nowadays I'm well aware of the cost of making 400 scale models with several brands. Aeroclassics at retail are as or more expensive than most brands and although the production volumes are low they aren't dramatically lower than I can order from JC or Panda (who are making demonstrably higher quality products), and ironically if the models were better quality they'd sell better too.

I added the V-shaped part of the colour scheme under the front fuselage. Not 100% accurate either but better than what AC came up with.

Other thread topic aside, I would not buy an Aeroclassics model for more than even $20 lol. 😆

They are just WAY too toylike - the only ones I have are a Cathay 707 (no one else makes these), a Southwest 737-200 in the Canyon Blue scheme (no one else made this..) and the other Southwest 727 that hasn't been made by anyone else. Notice a pattern?

Right
And that's the tricky bit
After a hiatus I've been picking up few A300s / 310s, 727s, DC-9s, DC-8s
Always with a sense of trepidation

They should be priced at less than NG Lite level.
