YY B747-467 Cathay Pacific Airways B-HUJ
Produced by HX
It was delivered to Cathay Pacific on May 23, 1995, and its registration number was changed from VR- to B- on August 25, 1997.
On July 6, 1998, B-HUJ operated flight CX889 departing from New York John F. Kennedy Airport, flying over the North Pole and through Russian airspace. It flew for 15 hours and 35 minutes and set a new world flight distance record with 7,465 nautical miles. This flight was also known as "Polar One".
On September 30 and October 1, 2016, B-HUJ operated Cathay Pacific's last 747 passenger flights, with flight numbers CX542 and CX543, traveling between Hong Kong and Tokyo Haneda. Since then, only cargo planes remained in Cathay Pacific Airways' 747 fleet.
On October 8, 2016, B-HUJ operated the charity flight CX8747, flying over Victoria Harbour and completing the farewell flight before retirement.
This aircraft is of great historical significance, so its model is quite attractive.
HX's recent assembly quality is relatively good, and the problem of misaligned parts seems to have been avoided to a certain extent. The one I received is neatly assembled, which is satisfying. The color selection is also better than that of the previous Singapore Airlines model. However, there is still room for improvement in the paint quality and printing accuracy of this batch of models.
