Two acquisitions from the last round of the NG CRP, via JetCollector:
Saudia L-1011-200 Tristar HZ-AHJ
Copa retro livery 737-800 HP-1841CMP
As always, can never go wrong with an NG Tristar. This was one where I had the CRP in mind for awhile actually. My interest wasn't quite strong enough to...
Four recent arrivals for me.
Pan Am 747-100 N733PA Clipper Young America from HX Models
PSA L-1011 -1 N10114 from NG
American MD-82 N236AA from NG
USAir Express Dash-8 100 N937HA from 3D Design Deck
This is a special group for me as they're model #s 99-102 in my collection. It's fitting for me...
NG makes up about 2/3 of my collection, followed by Gemini and Panda, but I do have at least one from each of the other current main brands (AC, AV400, JC, Phoenix). NG has just been the most reliable combination of quality product and release choices that fit my criteria, albeit not as many as...
Not as big a month for me as I thought it might be based on the hints, but the Eastern Tristar more than makes up for it. A bare metal EAL Tristar has been one of my grails since getting back into the hobby 3 years ago, so am thrilled to see NG finally making it. Also good to see more MD-80s...
Received my NG CRP package with some additions for the retro fleet I'm really excited about:
America West 757 N913AW
British Airways 757 G-BIKA (Blue Poole tail)
United 747SP N140UA (Saul Bass)
This was my first time taking advantage of the CRP, and while it is a bit unwieldy, it does work in...
Re: the high window lines. It looks to me like these are suffering from the same issue some others have pointed out with NG's A319s and 320s, which is that the overwing exit door printing looks a little too small. To my eye, the window line issue looks less noticeable on the examples with no...
What a disappointment about the color. Don't think I've ever said this about an NG model before, but I'll wait for someone else to do it better. I'll hope that they correct it for the upcoming 73Gs, but considering that countless people told NG they got the color wrong on the SWA MAX8 yet it...
I'd be down for a TWA Tristar since I missed their previous ones.
N26xxx, N22xxx, N41xxx should be the three Southwest Heart livery 73Gs that were announced as future releases. Been looking forward to those but am tempering my enthusiasm until we see how the colors turn out.
My DL A320 arrived yesterday and I had much the same reaction. It basically looks fine in person. Is the window line a smidge high? Yeah probably. But not enough to be bothersome for me.
Just two definites for me: N863GT and the Delta 738. The Southwest MAX7 is a maybe, depending on whether they've corrected the shade of blue used for the Heart livery. If it's still the way-too-dark shade they used on their recent MAX8, I'll pass.
I'll third the choice of the Cathay Tristar from NG, as both my favorite 2023 release and 2023 purchase.
There wasn't really an obvious winner for me this year like there was last year with the NG Delta Tristar. So it does feel a little cliché to pick another NG Tristar, but what can I say...
May not qualify as a resurgence, but they did 2 747SPs this year (TWA and Air Mauritius), after not having made any since 2017 at least according to DiMA.
